Feat of the Week: Custom Camo Cerakote

In this week’s blog, we are featuring custom camo Cerakote jobs from the past few weeks. We went light on the word count because these pictures are worth more than a thousands words.

Topo Camo

This is actually the same gun we wrote our first ever blog on. Our friend Justin wanted to get something new on his EDC. He was looking for something fresh and thought a topographical theme would be cool. Our Cerakote painter Neil designed the camo pattern, and together they brainstormed the colors. Green was the obvious choice for the topo camo, but we absolutely love the variations they chose.

Justin is also our photographer, and all of the photos in this blog and on our website are from him. Follow him @541Outdoors.

Bape Camo

This camo pattern was inspired by Bathing Ape. Also known as BAPE, this Japanese fashion brand was founded in 1993 and specialized in street wear. Today, they have several stores located throughout Japan and China as well as location ins Singapore, New York, London, Paris, Miami, and Los Angeles.

BAPE often features characters from shows like SpongeBob, Marvel, DC, and Hello Kitty. They’ve also collaborated with Pepsi, Coke, Adidas, Disney as well as famous artists like The Weekend, Kanye, Pharrell, Lil Wayne, and Travis Scott.

BAPE is a reference to a phrase “A Bathing Ape in Lukewarm Water” which implies one has overindulged in a bath so long that the water is no longer hot. We absolutely love the overindulgence of this 300 Blackout with custom colors and custom camo design.

Ghost Camo

This is the second time we have done the ghost camo pattern. Our first run of this was on a customer’s VEPR 12. When one of our other customers saw the camo, he had to have it on his Glock.

The pattern was the brainchild of our Cerakote painter Neil. He used Cerakote colors Bull Shark Grey and Sig Dark Grey to create it.

Neil does a great job of making the customer’s vision come true, but he also comes up with some amazing designs of his own!

Multicam Tropic

MultiCam is a trademarked name from Crye Precision. This camouflage was developed in 2002 and is used by the U.S. military in various environments and seasons. The pattern tricks the brain into “filling-in” the pattern as part of the background. This causes the wearer to blend into their surroundings.

Currently, MultiCam is worn by special operations forces, the DEA, ICE, and SWAT teams around the country.

There are four patterns of MultiCam: 1) arid for the desert, 2) tropic for dense vegetation, 3) alpine for environments with heavy snow, and 4) black for use by law enforcement.

This customer wanted a tropic multicam job. To pull this off, we used Multicam Bright Green, Jesse James Eastern Front Green, Magpul FDE, and Granite Black.

Dazzle Camo

This is the second iteration of Dazzle Camo we’ve ever done. Though the pattern is true to Dazzle Camouflage, the colors aren’t traditional. The pattern consisted of large black and white geometric shapes were thought to obscure military ships and aircraft during World War I.

We’re calling this “Peanut Butter and Jelly Dazzle Camo.” It’s made with FDE and Wild Purple from Cerakote.
